An “Aha” Moment in Menswear
After over 30 years in the industry, Victor Dash established Dash’s of Old Town in response to the trends he saw in the market. Clothiers and department stores were relying on labels to sell their stock and taking advantage of an uninformed public. In addition, many sales associates themselves were uninformed about the very garments they were selling. As a result, the details and finer points that make a wardrobe truly stunning were overlooked, and people were paying more, but dressing worse. This is the place for Northern Virginia custom suits.
Even though Victor practically grew up in the clothing industry, working from the age of 16 at the old “Dash’s Designers,” he knew that it was a calling and there wasn’t anything else he would rather do. When his family’s stores closed in 1987, he knew a lot about menswear, but there was so much more that he had to learn about the custom-made side of the business. Victor went to work at the Custom Shop based out of New York. After a couple years, he went into big and tall menswear. There, he says you could make a client look better and see their confidence soar.
From there, the natural progression was to luxury menswear and working with names like Brioni, Kiton, Hermes, Prada, etc. This was his finishing school, where he worked as a manager and general manager for a couple high end stores. Here, he took pride in being a clothier and how not to treat a client. In 2005, with 18 years experience as a highly-trained bespoke tailor, he knew he was ready to open his own shop and make a difference!
